I'm Sujjada.
I'm a mum of two very hungry, very active boys who are always growing, always playing sport, and always asking "what's for dinner?"
Bengali heritage · 13 yrs in Switzerland. Mostly British
My children were born in Switzerland, where I lived for 13 years, and that's really where my focus on nutritious food began. Before that, my husband and I survived quite happily on ready meals and takeaways! In Switzerland, sourcing Bangladeshi spices wasn't easy, so I learned to make curries from scratch using everyday supermarket ingredients — simple, adaptable and practical.
I never really thought of myself as a "cook", but friends often commented on how good the food tasted (I choose to believe they meant it). Play dates became memorable — butter chicken was always a favourite, and surprisingly easy to make.
After many fun cooking sessions with friends, I realised how much I enjoyed sharing what I'd learned. That's when I decided to open my kitchen to others who'd like to cook together with their friends too — alongside me, and with my guidance, of course.
Now I'm back in the UK, surrounded by amazing spice shops… yet I still do most of my shopping at the local supermarket — partly habit but mainly convenience.
Cook with Suj is about home-style Bengali cooking: nourishing and doable, even on busy days.
